In the wake of the DMK's recent electoral defeat, Tamil Nadu's Opposition Leader, Udhayanidhi Stalin, has proclaimed the setback as temporary, pledging that the party will reclaim power with invigorated determination. Addressing party functionaries at the YMCA Grounds in Royapettah, Stalin reinforced his confidence in the party's future while highlighting its deep-rooted connection with grassroots supporters.
Stalin criticized the DMK's failure to identify genuine political rivals, instead wasting resources on illusory foes. He stressed that the party's renewed strategy would be to focus on mobilizing supporters and correcting past mistakes. Meanwhile, he launched an attack on the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, dismissing it as an ineffective "sofa-model government" lacking the capability to fulfill its promises.
Accusing the new administration of superficial rebranding rather than addressing core public needs, Stalin depicted TVK's leadership as akin to comedian Vadivelu's "13 jokers," lacking a coherent vision. He assured that the DMK would remain a vigilant watchdog, demanding fulfilment of campaign pledges and anticipating a return to governance under Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin.
