Trinamool Congress (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Sagarika Ghose launched a strong critique against politicians who change allegiances following election outcomes, describing the habit as 'shameful'. Speaking on X, Ghose, a former journalist turned politician, reiterated her allegiance to Mamata Banerjee's leadership, while accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of damaging India's democratic institutions.
In her post, Ghose stated the personal became political for her in 2024, outlining her opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership due to its alleged anti-constitutional stance. She emphasized her steadfast belief in the West Bengal Chief Minister's courageous and principled politics, presenting Banerjee as a role model for citizens.
Ghose expressed disbelief at the trend of politicians deserting their parties when faced with electoral defeat, questioning their initial convictions. She further criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah, indicating that loyalty among politicians appears to end when contacted by BJP leadership. Meanwhile, around 20 TMC MPs have shown interest in aligning with the BJP-led NDA, signaling significant political changes in West Bengal's landscape.
