Union Minister of State Sukanta Majumdar defended recent legal actions taken against senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders. Speaking in Malda, Majumdar downplayed allegations of political vendetta and justified the FIR filed against TMC chairperson Mamata Banerjee, referring to her statements as provocative.

The FIR, filed by the Kolkata Police at Hare Street, under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, accuses Banerjee of delivering an inflammatory speech. Tushar Kanti Das lodged the complaint, claiming the speech threatened public peace and democratic harmony.

BJP MLA Indranil Khan supported the FIR, arguing such actions against Banerjee should have been taken earlier due to her alleged rhetoric against national interests. Currently, the TMC is grappling with internal divisions post-election defeat, while the CID continues an inquiry into involving Abhishek Banerjee.
