YSR Congress wins 151 seats, storms to power in Andhra Amaravati, May 24 (PTI): After more than 30 hours of counting, the Election Commission Friday afternoon officially declared the results of all 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh In a landslide, the YSR Congress won 151 Assembly seats while the Telugu Desam Party, which was in power since June 2014, managed only 23. The new entrant Jana Sena Party had to be content with just one seat.
The TDP's tally in 2014 was 102 and YSRC's 67. BJP had won four, Navodayam Party one and an independent one. The YSRC maintained its upward swing even in the Lok Sabha polls, bagging 22 of the 25 seats.
The TDP got just three by slender margins. The YSRC's tally shot up from 8 in 2014 while the TDP's dipped from 15.
In both the Assembly and the Lok Sabha, BJP and the Congress drew a blank in AP. It was for the second consecutive time that the Congress failed to win a single seat in the state.
The BJP won four Assembly and two Lok Sabha seats in 2014 in alliance with the TDP. As it contested the general elections on its own this time, it failed to make any mark despite a strong Modi wave that swept the country.
