Turkey won't delay transfer of CHP's Isbank shares to Treasury - Erdogan

President Tayyip Erdogan said the transfer of the main opposition party's 28% stake in Turkey's largest listed lender Isbank to the state would not be delayed, broadcaster NTV reported. The proposed transfer of a 28% stake in Isbank that was held by the opposition CHP party to the Treasury was discussed at a meeting of Erdogan's ruling AK Party this week, Hurriyet website reported on Thursday.
Erdogan made the comments on a return flight from Pakistan. Erdogan said last year that the Treasury would take over the CHP's Isbank stake, which was bequeathed to the party by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder of the Turkish Republic. The CHP, which appoints four members to Isbank's board, opposes the move.
