Kirk storm bringing heavy showers to St. Lucia

Tropical storm Kirk is approaching St. Lucia and is bringing heavy showers and thunderstorms across Barbados, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Thursday.

"Kirk is forecast to become a tropical depression Friday night, and degenerate into a trough of low pressure by Sunday," the NHC said.

The storm is located about 60 miles (95 kilometers) south-southeast of Martinique with maximum sustained winds of 50 miles per hour (85 kph), the Miami-based forecaster said.
