Monsoon Havoc: Streets Flood, Traffic Halts in Major City Areas

Heavy monsoon showers wreaked havoc across several city areas on Saturday evening, leading to extensive waterlogging.

Residents were forced to navigate through waist-deep water, while traffic came to a standstill in numerous locations.

The fire department received at least 31 calls reporting incidents of tree falls. Particularly affected areas included Lohegaon, Dhanori, Kothrud, Deccan Gymkhana, and Swargate. According to the weather department, Shivaji Nagar alone recorded 67 mm of rainfall by 5.30 pm.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who also serves as the district's guardian minister, spoke with the municipal commissioner and district collector to assess the situation, according to officials.
