Bihar Cabinet Greenlights Metro Projects and Other Key Proposals

The Bihar cabinet, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has approved metro projects for four cities and key proposals on examinations and sports clubs. The metro projects aim to enhance urban transit in Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Darbhanga, and Bhagalpur, while other approvals focus on recruitment exams and sports infrastructure.

The Bihar cabinet, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has taken significant steps towards urban development and transportation enhancement by approving metro projects in four key cities of the state. This decision was finalized during a cabinet meeting and aims to improve connectivity in Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Darbhanga, and Bhagalpur. Patna Metro, whose foundation was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019, is also progressing with its construction efforts.

According to S Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat), the next steps involve feasibility reports and detailed project reports (DPR). The project costs will be shared by both the central and state governments and financial institutions. Once completed, the Patna Metro project's first phase expects operational stations by March next year, featuring a combination of elevated and underground tracks.

In addition to the metro projects, the cabinet approved new protocols for large-scale recruitment exams and the establishment of sports clubs across panchayats, enhancing the quality and accessibility of public services and sports facilities.
