Nine children sustained injuries on Friday night after a tin cover atop a building's terrace collapsed in Thane's Upavan area, according to civic officials.

Among them, five children who were playing football at a nearby turf ground in Gawan Baug have suffered serious injuries and have been admitted to Bethany Hospital.

The injured children are students of Classes IX and X. When approached, Vartak Nagar police station officials mentioned they are still gathering details on the incident.
