Jharkhand Faces Monsoon Woes: 67% Rain Deficit in June

Jharkhand is grappling with a severe rainfall deficit, recording a shortfall of 67% in June due to the sluggish southwest monsoon. According to meteorological reports, five districts report an over 80% deficit, causing significant concern among local farmers.

The delayed monsoon, which arrived 11 days late on June 21, has so far covered only four districts. The state received a mere 46.6 mm of rainfall against the usually expected 139.9 mm between June 1-25.

Met Department officials are optimistic, however, predicting an increase in rainfall activities from Wednesday. Farmers, worried about their kharif crops, hope the shifts in weather patterns will lead to substantial rainfall in the upcoming days.
