Poland Tremor Traps 27 Coal Miners

Rescue operations are underway in southern Poland to free 27 coal miners trapped underground after a tremor hit the Rydultowy mine. 68 miners were in the area during the incident. Fifteen have been hospitalized in good condition, while contact with two miners remains unestablished.

Rescue teams are racing against time to free 27 coal miners trapped underground in southern Poland following an earth tremor at the Rydultowy mine. The tremor, which occurred around 0600 GMT, struck approximately 1,200 meters below ground.

According to PGG spokesperson Aleksandra Wysocka-Siembiga, 68 miners were in the area at the time. Of these, 41 have already been brought to the surface. Fifteen miners have been transferred to nearby hospitals in good condition. 'The remaining miners are being brought out. We still don't have contact with two miners,' Wysocka-Siembiga told TVN24.

Television footage showed helicopters and ambulances at the scene as more than 10 rescue teams worked tirelessly to bring the trapped miners to safety.
