Gautam Buddh Nagar's Successful Plantation Drive Surpasses Goals

Gautam Buddh Nagar's mass plantation drive exceeded its target, planting 1,127,806 saplings against a goal of 1,076,407. The initiative, part of Uttar Pradesh's annual program, saw participation from various stakeholders. A mass plantation drive in Gautam Buddh Nagar on Saturday surpassed its target, planting 1,127,806 saplings against the set goal of 1,076,407, according to an official statement.

The event is part of the Uttar Pradesh government's state-wide initiative to plant 36.50 crore saplings annually, following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's instructions.

However, no information was shared regarding the survival rate of previously planted saplings.

Themed 'Plant Trees, Save Trees' and 'One Tree in Mother's Name', the drive saw participation from prominent figures like MP Mahesh Sharma and former UP chief secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, along with other officials and the local community led by District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma.

Divisional Forest Officer Pramod Kumar Srivastava stated that the drive was executed as a mass movement with extensive public involvement from various sectors, including schools, colleges, civil society, and NGOs.

MP Mahesh Sharma emphasized community participation, urging residents to plant trees in their mother's name. Former chief secretary Mishra stressed the importance of protecting the planted trees to ensure a healthy environment.

District Magistrate Verma called on farmers to actively join the initiative by obtaining free saplings from the nodal department.

Overall, the drive involved large-scale participation from government departments, industrial units, and public representatives, achieving approximately 105% of the set target.
