Government to Lower Property Duties for Women in Urban Development Push
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced plans to lower property duties for purchases made by women and integrate these changes into urban development schemes. This was part of her Union Budget speech, where she also addressed the discontinuation of using Aadhaar Enrolment IDs for taxation purposes.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on Tuesday that the government will look at further lowering property duties for women as part of urban development schemes.
In her Union Budget speech, Sitharaman also proposed to discontinue the quoting of Aadhaar Enrolment IDs in place of Aadhaar numbers for taxation purposes.
'We encourage states that charge high stamp duties to moderate their rates for all and consider further lowering duties for properties purchased by women,' she said.
