A total of 23,811 people have been granted ownership rights to their properties under the Pradhan Mantri Unauthorised Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY) as of July 16, officials reported to the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

In a written reply to a query, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu revealed that the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has so far received 1,22,729 applications for ownership rights under the PM-UDAY scheme. "The number of people conferred with ownership rights under the PM-UDAY scheme till July 16 stands at 23,811," Sahu stated.

Following the Union Cabinet's 2019 proposal and subsequent parliamentary bill to grant ownership rights to residents of unauthorised colonies, the central government introduced the PM-UDAY scheme. People living in such colonies can now apply for property ownership rights through this scheme.

In response to another question, Sahu noted that the DDA reported a disbursement of Rs 2,173.81 crore for projects approved under the Urban Development Fund (UDF) over the past five years, from 2019-20 to 2023-24. According to available reports, 22 projects are currently in the implementation stage under the UDF.
