Haryana Govt. Empowers Urban Local Body Representatives

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced new measures to enhance the powers of urban local body representatives. Until ward committees are formally established, councillors will have full authority over development work. A committee led by Subhash Sudha will also review the allowances for municipal representatives.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday announced measures to bolster the authority of urban local body representatives, including municipal corporations and municipal councils.

Speaking at a conference of urban local bodies, Saini disclosed that councillors will have complete control over development work in their wards until formal ward committees are set up.

A committee, steered by Minister Subhash Sudha, will soon review and recommend an increase in honorariums for municipal representatives after consulting all stakeholders.
