Himachal Pradesh Launches Safe Building Construction Awareness Campaign

The Himachal Pradesh Disaster Management Authority is set to kick off an awareness campaign on safe building construction from October 1. The 'Samartha' programme will disseminate information through art troupes, media, and promotional materials, targeting residents, panchayat representatives, and construction workers.

The Himachal Pradesh Disaster Management Authority will initiate a statewide campaign to raise awareness about safe building construction starting October 1, officials confirmed on Tuesday. Dubbed the 'Samartha' programme, the initiative will use various channels including art troupes, print, electronic, and social media to spread the message, according to a district administration spokesperson.

SDMA Director-cum-Special Secretary D C Rana organized a video-conference meeting with district officials on Monday evening to discuss campaign strategies. District Revenue Officer Hamirpur, Jaspal Singh, mentioned that information on safe building practices will also be disseminated during gram sabha meetings on October 2.

Additional promotional materials, including pamphlets published by the SDMA, will be distributed among the public, Singh said. Efforts will also be made to involve local panchayat representatives to ensure maximum participation. Contractors, masons, and other construction workers will be specially targeted to raise awareness about safe building practices, the spokesperson added.
