A 62-year-old man was killed in a building collapse in north Delhi's Sabji Mandi area, raising the death toll from rain-related incidents to three in the national capital, officials reported on Thursday.

Heavy rainfall wreaked havoc across Delhi on Wednesday evening, flooding large parts of the city and leaving key roads clogged with unending traffic. Numerous people were left stranded.

According to police, the victim, identified as Anil Kumar Gupta, was inside the building when it collapsed at 8:30 pm. He later succumbed to his injuries at Saint Stephens Hospital. In a tragic incident in east Delhi's Ghazipur area, a 22-year-old woman named Tanuja and her three-year-old son, Priyansh, drowned after slipping into a waterlogged drain on Wednesday night. The duo were found near the Khoda Colony area around 8 pm and were declared dead at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital.

By 7 am, Delhi Police had received 2,945 calls related to traffic jams, 127 calls about waterlogging, 27 calls concerning building collapses, and 50 calls about fallen trees, officials reported. Additional incidents included injuries from a wall collapse in south Delhi's Defence Colony and northeast Delhi's Shastri Park area. Details about the injured were not disclosed.

Furthermore, at least 11 cars were damaged in wall collapse incidents in central Delhi's Daryaganj and southwest Delhi's Vasant Kunj area. The Meteorological Department added Delhi to its 'areas of concern' in the National Flash Flood Guidance Bulletin, advising residents to stay indoors and secure their homes.
