Uttarakhand Floods: Tragedy Strikes Amid Torrential Rains

Heavy overnight rains in Uttarakhand have resulted in tragic floods, house collapses, and swollen rivers, causing twelve deaths and leaving six injured, officials confirmed on Thursday.

Widespread damage was reported across the state with the highest rainfall recorded in Haridwar's Roshanabad at 210 mm. Several areas are waterlogged and home to ongoing rescue operations.

Efforts are being made to rescue over 1,500 stranded pilgrims on the Kedarnath trek route due to washed-out sections. Schools and Anganwadi centers in several districts, including Dehradun, remain closed.
