Residents of Dharavi have voiced their support for the state-led survey of informal tenements, crucial for the USD 3-billion Adani Group redevelopment project. The Citizen and Society Development Welfare association requests an expedited survey, envisioning modern flats and amenities for eligible residents. The project promises significant transformation, including modern infrastructure and vocational training.
In a significant boost for the redevelopment of Asia's largest slum, the newly formed association of Dharavi residents has expressed strong support for the ongoing government survey. The survey is a pivotal step in the USD 3-billion project by the Adani Group, intended to transform the lives of about one million residents.
The Citizen and Society Development Welfare association urged state authorities to expedite the survey process to avoid delays in development. Representatives met with S V R Srinivas, CEO of the Dharavi Redevelopment Project, emphasizing the survey’s importance in commencing redevelopment quickly.
Despite challenges such as heavy rains, survey teams are diligently working door to door, covering 10,000 tenements so far. The redevelopment includes modern apartments, infrastructure, and vocational training aimed at enhancing the community's economic prospects.
