A tragic incident unfolded in Russia's Far East as a 41-year-old man was mauled to death by a brown bear, according to a report by RIA state news agency.
The bear has since been killed, informed Elena Slobodanyuk, the head of the hunting department for the Magadan region.
The unfortunate event occurred when the man's car broke down during a fishing trip, prompting him to walk through the forest at night.
Slobodanyuk noted a rising bear population in the region, which has resulted in three human fatalities last year alone. Since the start of spring, gamekeepers have killed over 100 bears.
