Tragedy in Thane: Exploding Reactor Leaves Man Legless, Family Injured

A tragic incident unfolded in Maharashtra's Thane district on Monday when a reactor explosion at a local pharmaceutical company led to severe injuries for a nearby family. According to police, the blast resulted in a metal fragment crashing through the roof of their house, inflicting life-altering injuries.

The explosion occurred at approximately 4:30 am in the reactor's receiver tank located at Kharvai village within the Badlapur MIDC, as stated by chief fire officer Bhagwat Sonawane. The ensuing fire was quickly extinguished by local fire authorities alerted to the scene.

Among the injured, a man sustained critical leg injuries, necessitating amputation at a local hospital. His wife and daughter also received medical treatment for their injuries. The investigation is ongoing, with police working to determine the cause of the blast, said Badlapur East senior police inspector Sukhada R Shitole-Shinde.
