In response to the extensive damage caused by a cloudburst on the Kedarnath trek route, departments have set a seven-day timeline for restoration. Secretaries and officials conducted an aerial survey and on-spot inspection on Monday.

The cloudburst in Junglechatti, near Lincholi, last Wednesday led to substantial damage and the rescue of over 10,000 people from Kedarnath, Bhimbali, and Gaurikund. Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman and Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey have spearheaded the efforts to expedite the repair work.

Public Works Department (PWD) officials identified 29 critical spots needing repair, with significant challenges posed by a 60-metre washed-out stretch in Junglechatti and a 15-metre damaged section in Ghodapadav near Gaurikund. The National Highways Authority of India has called for departmental suggestions to ensure the journey is smooth for pilgrims within the set deadline.
