Guwahati Under Water: Government Scrambles to Address Severe Flooding

Singhal assured that if any governmental lapses are discovered, corrective measures will be implemented. Monday's downpour left the city submerged for hours, halting traffic and leaving commuters stranded. Areas like Rukminigaon remained inundated even on Tuesday, prompting the Met Department to issue an alert for thunderstorms with lightning.

Singhal confirmed that a comprehensive report is expected from the district commissioner of Kamrup Metropolitan by Wednesday. Only after receiving this report will the government comment on the cause of the disaster. The severe flooding also led to the closure of all educational institutions in the city.
