Death Toll Rises in Himachal Pradesh Floods

The recent cloudburst-induced flash floods in Himachal Pradesh, India, have claimed 32 lives, with rescue operations ongoing. Four bodies were recovered near Rampur, while 23 individuals are still missing across the districts of Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla. DNA profiling has confirmed the identities of 11 victims.

The death toll in Himachal Pradesh's cloudburst-triggered flash floods has climbed to 32, with four more bodies recovered, officials reported on Friday.

Flash floods on July 31 resulted in 23 people still being unaccounted for across Kullu's Nirmand, Sainj, and Malana; Mandi's Padhar; and Shimla's Rampur subdivision.

Four bodies were discovered in the Sunni dam and Sutlej riverbed near Rampur, leaving 14 individuals still missing in the area, according to Superintendent of Police (Shimla) Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi.

One body was recovered on Friday, while three others were found over the past six days. Eleven of the 19 bodies identified in Rampur have been confirmed through DNA profiling.

Search and rescue efforts in Mandi were halted after nine out of ten missing people were found deceased, with nine bodies recovered in Rajbhan village and four in Kullu's Nirmand/Bagipul area.
