Thane Integral Ring Metro Project Gets Green Light: A Boon for Urban Development

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday hailed the Union government for giving the green light to the Thane Integral Ring Metro project, emphasizing its significant impact on resolving traffic woes and promoting urban development in the city.
According to an official statement, the Union Cabinet has approved the 29-kilometre Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project Corridor, which will encircle the western perimeter of Thane city, bordered by the Ulhas river and Sanjay Gandhi National Park.
With a projected cost of Rs 12,200 crore, the metro route will feature 26 kilometres of elevated tracks and will include 22 stations, two of which will be underground. The construction is scheduled for completion in 2029, and the metro is expected to serve around 6.47 lakh passengers once operational, with ridership projected to reach 7.61 lakh by 2035.
