CWC Unveils Vision 2047 to Tackle Climate Challenges in Water Management

The Central Water Commission (CWC) has unveiled an ambitious Vision 2047 plan aimed at addressing pressing water management challenges exacerbated by climate change, according to Chairperson Kushvinder Vora.

In an interview with PTI, Vora detailed the CWC's strategy, which includes short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals designed to bolster India's water management infrastructure. The short-term focus is on capacity building and revising existing guidelines to tackle immediate needs.

The commission is reviewing key areas such as Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF) and enhancing monitoring capabilities. The mid-term goals involve using remote sensing for assessments, while long-term plans include developing indigenous modeling software and expanding glacier monitoring in the Himalayan region.
