Himachal Pradesh Reels Under Landslides Amid Persistent Monsoon

The state has reported losses of Rs 1,195 crore and 139 fatalities from rain-related incidents this season, according to official data released on Wednesday. Districts including Mandi, Shimla, Kangra, Kullu, Kinnaur, Bilaspur, Una, and Sirmaur have been severely impacted.

This has resulted in the suspension of 29 water and 14 power schemes. To navigate the deteriorating situation, Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap advised residents, especially students, office-goers, and patients, to add extra travel time due to traffic jams and road blocks exacerbated by landslides. Immediate removal of debris poses further risk of landslides, prompting authorities to seek geological expertise for stabilization.
