Torrential rains triggered a catastrophic landslide in the southern Italian province of Caserta, prompting urgent evacuations on Tuesday afternoon.
Rescuers are currently searching for a woman in her 70s and her adult son, who were traveling in a three-wheeler that was buried by the mud. Mayor Emilio Nuzzo expressed little hope about their survival, citing expert opinions.
The fire brigade deployed 10 search squads, while severe weather affected other regions, including Milan, Como, and the Tuscan coastline.
