Indian Authorities Capture Wolf in Uttar Pradesh Amid Deadly Attacks
Indian authorities have captured one of three wolves responsible for killing six children and a woman in Uttar Pradesh. Wolves attacked over 30 villages, prompting authorities to use drones and thermal mapping to track them. Measures include flood lights and elephant dung to deter further attacks.
Indian authorities on Thursday captured one of three wolves that have killed six children and a woman in Uttar Pradesh's northern state over the past two weeks.
According to Akash Deep Badhawan, a senior officer of the Indian Forest Services, more than 30 villages in the dense forest district of Bahriach have been attacked by wolves, with the summer season making villagers who sleep outside particularly vulnerable.
Using drones equipped with cameras and thermal mapping software, authorities identified and tracked the wolves. Efforts to capture the remaining two wolves continue, with several Forest Department teams deployed to guard the villages and capture the animals.
