The Delhi government on Monday banned the production, sale, and use of firecrackers in order to control air pollution in the forthcoming winter season. The prohibition aims to curb the harmful effects of firecrackers on the environment and public health.
Environment Minister Gopal Rai declared in a statement that the ban also extends to online sale and delivery of firecrackers. He emphasized the necessity for immediate action to combat the city's deteriorating air quality.
To ensure strict implementation, an action plan will be devised in collaboration with the Delhi Police, Delhi Pollution Control Committee, and the Revenue Department. ''The ban on the production, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers will remain in force until January 1, 2025,'' Rai stated, adding that this move is a component of Delhi's broader winter action plan, which is based on 21 focal points designed to mitigate pollution.
