Fatal Accident in Ashok Nagar Sparks Political Accusations

A tragic incident occurred in Ashok Nagar when a 35-year-old man fell into a stormwater drain and died, prompting political accusations.
Police identified the deceased as G Iyyappan, an inebriated resident of K K Nagar, who slipped while playing with a stray dog. The open pit, filled with rainwater, posed a significant hazard according to the opposition AIADMK.
AIADMK General Secretary, Edappadi K Palaniswami, criticized the civic authorities for not barricading the area, emphasizing that such accidents are preventable. He urged officials to complete stormwater drainage works ahead of the imminent northeast monsoon to ensure public safety.
