Switch Off, Save Delhi: 'Red Light On, Gaadi Off' Campaign's Impact

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai launched the 'Red Light On, Gaadi Off' campaign to reduce vehicular pollution. The initiative urges drivers to switch off engines at red lights. Rai highlighted the need for cooperation from neighboring states to tackle other pollution sources and called for BJP support.

In a bid to combat rising pollution in India's capital, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has initiated the 'Red Light On, Gaadi Off' campaign. This project aims to slash vehicular emissions by encouraging drivers to switch off their engines at red lights.

Speaking to the press, Rai emphasized the urgent need for action, citing winter's approaching and the external pollution Delhi faces from adjacent states. He urged the BJP not to retaliate politically but to join forces in curbing environmental threats.

Highlighting the differences in regional stubble burning rates, Rai called for greater efforts from the BJP-led governments in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Meanwhile, he pointed out that over 1,000 diesel buses, mostly external, still pollute daily in Delhi, despite local efforts for cleaner air.
