Daring Rescue: Indian Coast Guard Saves Olive Ridley Turtle

The Indian Coast Guard successfully rescued an Olive Ridley turtle tangled in fishing nets off the Chennai coast. The ICG Ship Rani Abbakka, while on patrol, discovered the turtle struggling to escape from discarded nets. Coast Guard personnel quickly intervened, freeing the turtle and reaffirming their dedication to Operation Olivia.

The Indian Coast Guard undertook a daring rescue operation on Monday, saving an Olive Ridley turtle that had become entangled in fishing nets off the coast of Chennai. The ICG Ship Rani Abbakka, while on routine patrol, came across the turtle in distress, ensnared in discarded nets.

Upon discovering the struggling turtle, Coast Guard personnel swiftly launched a life boat from the ship. They managed to free the hapless creature, showcasing their commitment to marine conservation efforts.

This rescue is part of Operation Olivia, an initiative aimed at safeguarding the Olive Ridley turtles and their breeding grounds, highlighting the Coast Guard's dedication to protecting marine life and habitats.
