According to the weather office, Cyclone Dana is currently over the Bay of Bengal and is predicted to turn into a severe cyclonic storm. Wind speeds are expected to reach up to 120 kph on Thursday night. Consequently, schools across 14 districts are to be shut from Wednesday through Friday, and fishermen are warned against venturing out to sea.

Officials instructed tourists and pilgrims, especially those frequenting Puri and its renowned Jagannath temple, to evacuate. Rescue teams are on alert as heavy rains threaten to cause destruction to homes, roads, and power lines through flooding and landslides.
