India Calls for Urgent International Support for Biodiversity Action
India has urged developed countries to provide necessary finance, technology, and capacity-building resources to aid developing nations in meeting biodiversity targets. At the 16th UN Biodiversity Conference, India announced its updated National Biodiversity Strategy, emphasizing a comprehensive approach and aligning with global frameworks like the KMGBF.

India has made a compelling call to the world's developed nations, urging them to contribute finance, technology, and capacity-building resources to assist developing countries in their quest to meet biodiversity goals. The appeal was delivered at the 16th UN Biodiversity Conference, highlighting the immediate need for international cooperation.
Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh announced India's updated National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) during the conference in Cali, Colombia, which aligns with the global Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Framework. Singh emphasized India's commitment to preserving biodiversity, reflecting the ancient philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' or 'One Earth, One Family, One Future'.
The minister also showcased India's efforts in biodiversity conservation, including a tree plantation initiative and the International Big Cat Alliance. India's mission to rejuvenate the Ganges was recognized as a top ecosystem restoration effort globally. The conference seeks to review progress on biodiversity commitments and highlights the role of indigenous peoples, resource mobilization, and genetic resource management.
