Tragic Discovery: Endangered Dolphin Carcass Found in Odisha

In a concerning discovery, the carcass of an endangered bottlenose dolphin was found on the shores of Odisha's Bhitarkanika National Park, sources confirmed on Wednesday.

The female dolphin, measuring approximately 8.2 feet, is believed to have perished at sea before washing ashore in the Mahakalapada range of the mangrove forest.

Divisional Forest Officer Sudrashan Gopinath Yadav stated the carcass was buried following a post-mortem. Notably, the dolphin species is listed as endangered by the IUCN and protected under India's Wildlife Act.
