Thane's Unyielding Stand: Crackdown on Illegal Structures

Thane civic chief Saurabh Rao has ordered the immediate demolition of 769 illegal constructions in the city. During a key meeting, Rao emphasized that resistance from police or political forces should not hinder the process. Assistant municipal commissioners are tasked with overseeing these operations personally.

In a decisive move, Thane civic chief Saurabh Rao has directed officials to expedite the demolition of illegal structures within the city. Chairing a meeting on the matter, Rao underscored the necessity of executing these orders without leniency, even in the face of limited police support or opposition from political parties.

The meeting disclosed that a total of 769 unauthorized constructions exist within the Thane Municipal Corporation limits, with 663 of these structures already documented in ward inspectors' beat diaries. Rao instructed that all identified constructions must be dismantled urgently.

To ensure accountability, assistant municipal commissioners are ordered to conduct personal inspections and oversee the demolition operations. Attendees at the meeting included Additional Commissioner Prashant Rode, Assistant Director of Urban Planning Sangram Kanade, and Legal Officer Makarand Kale.
