Roof Collapse at Srisailam Left Bank Canal Construction Site

A section of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal's roof collapsed in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district, trapping at least six workers. The construction company's team is assessing the situation. Local and national authorities, including the Chief Minister and Union Coal Minister, are overseeing relief efforts and verifying the safety of affected workers.

At least six workers are feared trapped following the collapse of a section of roof at the under-construction stretch of the Srisailam Left Bank Canal in Telangana's Nagarkurnool district, according to police officials.

The site is currently being assessed by the construction company's team as they verify the situation. Reports indicate that between six and eight workers are trapped within the tunnel approximately 12 to 13 kilometers inside, senior police officials disclosed.

Although a press release from the Chief Minister's office did not specify numbers, it suggested several workers may have sustained injuries. The Chief Minister has instructed local officials and state-level authorities to mobilize relief operations, with the state's irrigation minister and other officials arriving on-site by helicopter. Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy has demanded accountability, instructing officials to ensure the safety of the trapped and injured workers.
