Maharashtra Acts to Address Badlapur's Power Supply Challenges

Maharashtra state is addressing power supply issues in Badlapur, Thane district, following concerns raised during Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis's visit. MSEDCL has been directed to enhance power supply to the rapidly growing city, which struggles with electricity for its housing and industrial developments.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has initiated efforts to tackle the persistent power shortage plaguing the township of Badlapur in Thane district. The move comes in response to a directive from the chief minister's office, according to a statement made by an official on Saturday.

Badlapur is a rapidly expanding settlement, currently grappling with power issues due to the ongoing construction of new housing developments and industrial units. Residents conveyed their concerns to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis during his visit to the area on February 19, which marked Shivaji Jayanti, as explained by former president of the Kulgaon Badlapur Municipal Council and BJP leader, Ram Patkar.

Acting on an official missive from the state government, MSEDCL has been tasked with enhancing the electricity supply to support Badlapur's infrastructure. The township currently boasts 1.75 lakh electricity consumers, as per Patkar's account.
