Desperate Efforts Underway to Rescue Workers Trapped in Srisailam Tunnel Collapse

Telangana Minister Venkat Reddy visited the site of a tunnel collapse at the Srisailam Left Bank Canal project, where eight workers from Jharkhand and UP remain trapped. Despite relentless rescue attempts, the likelihood of safely recovering the individuals remains low due to challenging debris conditions.

On Monday, Telangana Minister for Roads and Buildings, Komatireeddy Venkat Reddy, visited the Srisailam Left Bank Canal project site, where a partially collapsed tunnel has left eight individuals from distant states like Jharkhand and UP trapped. The Minister expressed hope for their safe rescue.

Venkat Reddy, citing this project as his brainchild since 2005, countered BRS leader K T Rama Rao's criticisms against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's commitment due to election campaigns. He emphasized that two cabinet colleagues were overseeing operations at the site.

Efforts to rescue the trapped workers continue, though challenges persist, with officials acknowledging the slim chances of success due to substantial debris. Rescue operations involve the Indian Army, NDRF, and other agencies, active for over two days without a significant breakthrough.
