An encouraging decline in fire-related deaths has been reported in Delhi this year. Data from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) indicates a 74% drop, with only eight fatalities reported till February 24, compared to 31 in the same period last year.

Despite these promising numbers, the DFS data reveals mixed trends in emergency calls. January saw a decrease in associated calls, but the first 24 days of February witnessed an increase, highlighting potential concerns for the department.

Rescue operations achieved varied success: while the number of humans saved decreased, animal rescues showed minimal decline. These figures underscore the ongoing challenges faced by firefighters and the community in safeguarding lives and property amid fluctuating conditions.
