ISRO Prepares for Next Phase of SpaDeX Mission Experiments in March

ISRO will resume SpaDeX mission experiments in March, focusing on separating and re-docking two satellites. This mission, initiated last December, aims to refine docking technologies for future projects like Chandrayaan-4. The SpaDeX mission serves as a precursor to upcoming space endeavors, including the Bharat Antariksha Station.

ISRO is gearing up to resume experiments in mid-March with a focus on advancing its SpaDeX mission. This phase involves separating and re-docking two satellites, Chaser and Target, to perfect docking technologies essential for the future of space exploration.

The SpaDeX mission, launched on December 30, placed two satellites in orbit to demonstrate docking. By January 16, ISRO had successfully accomplished this task. According to ISRO Chairman V Narayanan, the unified satellites currently orbit elliptically, offering a 10-15 day window every two months for experimentation.

The planned experiments starting March 15 aim to test simulations and actual operations. These trials are crucial for future initiatives, such as Chandrayaan-4 and the Bharat Antariksha Station, which will rely heavily on refined docking techniques.
