Mass Layoffs Sweep U.S. Federal Workforce: Impacts Across Key Departments
A major reduction in the U.S. federal workforce is underway, orchestrated by U.S. President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. More than 100,000 employees have been offered buyouts or terminated as various departments, including Veterans Affairs, the IRS, and others, experience significant staffing cuts.
In a significant reshuffling of government resources, the Trump administration, along with billionaire Elon Musk, is orchestrating a major reduction of the U.S. federal workforce. This initiative has already impacted over 100,000 employees, according to recent reports.
Departments such as Veterans Affairs, Defense, and USAID are among those facing substantial staffing reductions. The Veterans Affairs department, for example, plans to return to 2019 staffing levels by eliminating more than 80,000 positions.
Amidst these sweeping changes, other departments, including the IRS and CIA, are also experiencing significant layoffs. The comprehensive efforts are part of a broader strategy to streamline government operations and reduce costs across the board.
