A major fire broke out in the top two floors of a 15-storey residential building in Kalyan, Maharashtra, on Tuesday night. According to officials, no injuries were reported in the incident.
The blaze erupted in the Riverdale Vista building at Jhulelal Chowk, Godrej Hill Complex, Kalyan West, around 9 p.m. The fire started on the 14th floor and quickly spread to the 15th floor, accelerated by strong winds, stated Namdev Chaudhary, chief fire officer of KDMC.
Fire brigade teams arrived promptly, deploying two fire engines, and called additional support as flames grew intense. The firefighting operation continues as rescue teams confirm the safe evacuation of all residents. Initial assessments indicate a short circuit might have been the cause of the fire.
