Delhi Delays Cloud Seeding Project Due to Monsoon Showers

Delhi's cloud seeding project aimed at reducing air pollution has been postponed due to monsoon rains. Initially scheduled for early July, the project will now take place between August 30 and September 10, when more suitable weather conditions are expected.

Delhi's efforts to combat air pollution through a pilot cloud seeding project have hit a delay, as monsoon rains continue to drench the capital. Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa announced the new schedule, pushing the window to late August for more favorable conditions.

Originally planned between July 4 and July 11, the initiative's timing was found unsuitable due to ongoing consultations with meteorological experts who recommended the new dates. The project, managed by IIT Kanpur and other meteorological bodies, aims to commence between August 30 and September 10, when monsoon effects are expected to subside, making for ideal cloud formations.

The operation will employ a Cessna 206-H aircraft in compliance with all necessary approvals and safety guidelines, ensuring no photographic documentation will be allowed during the seeding process to adhere to protocols.
