Once struggling in national sanitation rankings, the Meghalaya capital has redefined its standing through determined efforts led by the Shillong Municipal Board and involving enthusiastic public participation. This accolade, part of a nationwide initiative by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, acknowledges the city's progressive waste management and sanitation improvements.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma expressed pride, pointing out Shillong's advancements in key sectors such as waste collection and public cleanliness.
