Defying Elements: Rescuers Tackle Kashmir's Avalanche of Adversity

Rescuers continue their daunting search in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar on the fifth day, after a deadly cloudburst struck Chisoti, leaving devastation in its wake. Despite challenging weather, recovery efforts involving several agencies persist to retrieve those buried under debris and restore vital connectivity to affected areas.

Amid relentless rains and rugged terrain, rescue teams persevere in the large-scale search operation seeking the missing beneath debris in a cloudburst-hit village in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar.

The rescue, ongoing for five days, focuses on the heavily impacted site near a community kitchen, despite adverse weather conditions. Heavy machinery, including earth movers and sniffer dogs, aids their efforts.

On August 14, a cloudburst devastated Chisoti, claiming 61 lives and injuring over 100. As rescuers strive against nature's odds, the number of missing stands at 50. The operation involves police, army, NDRF, SDRF, and community volunteers.
