As the Yamuna River's water levels rise sharply, villages near Jewar and Rabupura are on high alert due to potential flooding. Officials reported that water has started inundating fields in villages including Falaida Khadar and Palahaka, prompting swift action.
Jewar Tehsildar Omprakash Paswan confirmed the activation of flood posts and control rooms, equipped at five strategic locations such as Primary Schools in Nevla and Jhuppa, and at Shiv Mandir in Bhaipur Brahmanan. He assured that the situation remains under control.
The Old Railway Bridge, a crucial observation point for flood risks, revealed the Yamuna's water level at 205.79 metres, nearing the critical 206-metre evacuation threshold. Coordination between Delhi and Gautam Budh Nagar officials is critical as the Hathnikund barrage and Wazirabad are releasing significant volumes of water hourly.
