Tragedy in the Wild: Ensuring Safety Amidst Tiger Attacks in Maharashtra

A tiger attack in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district led to the death of 40-year-old Vidya Kailash Masram. Villagers and authorities responded swiftly. In a tragic incident, a 40-year-old woman named Vidya Kailash Masram was fatally attacked by a tiger near a forest in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district. Vidya was at her farm in Chimur when the attack occurred, prompting a swift response from villagers who informed local authorities.

The forest department promptly transported Vidya's body to Chimur Sub-District Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Her family received Rs 50,000 in cash and a Rs 10 lakh compensation cheque. In light of the tragedy, villagers are urging the forest department to implement safety measures against wild animal attacks and are seeking employment support for her kin.

Meanwhile, forest officials successfully trapped a tigress responsible for a previous fatal attack on Annapurna Bila in the Somnath area. The sub-adult tigress, T-226, was tranquilized and captured. This containment was executed following concerns over human safety, and the tigress was transferred to a transit treatment centre.
