Indore's metro rail project witnessed a significant milestone as trial runs for the second phase were successfully completed. Conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited, the metro was tested on a 5-km stretch at speeds of 5-10 kmph, connecting the Super Corridor No. 3 and MR-10 stations.
This tested stretch forms part of a larger 17.50-km corridor running between Gandhi Nagar and Radisson Square stations. Currently, commercial metro operations are active on a 6-km section under the first phase between Gandhi Nagar and Super Corridor station No. 3.
Commercial operation for the second phase awaits approvals from the Research Design and Standards Organisation and the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety. With these clearances anticipated by late October, the project's completion aims to offer Indore a robust, eco-friendly public transport solution.
